International Young Farmers' Forum
At the 2025 International Young Farmers‘ Forum, 20 young farmers from all continents came together in Berlin. They actively contributed their valuable experiences from their own farms or their work in national farmers’ organisations to the discussions at the GFFA. As the future shapers of the global food supply, they will play a central role in the development of sustainable solutions. The Young Farmers‘ Forum and the GFFA therefore once again offered them the opportunity to make themselves heard at the international level. Two representatives of the group presented the jointly developed declaration on “Farming a Sustainable Bioeconomy” at the Agriculture Ministers’ Conference and addressed political demands to international policymakers.

Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM)
On 16 January, the final negotiations of the GFFA Communiqué took place at the Senior Officials‘ Meeting (SOM). The representatives conducted constructive negotiations and established a Final Draft that was adopted by 63 ministers present at the Agriculture Ministers’ Conference on 18 January. 38 countries and 14 International Organisations participated at the SOM.

Innovation Forum
The GFFA Innovation Forum once again offered an exciting exhibition format at the next GFFA, presenting innovative projects, practical examples and new solutions related to the GFFA’s main topic. Numerous scientific institutions, NGOs, companies, including start-ups, authorities and associations presented their latest innovations and activities. A total of 27 exhibitors showcased their creative approaches and forward-looking ideas.

Opening Event
The opening event marked the official start of the GFFA with an exchange between renowned experts in global bioeconomics from politics, business, science and civil society on the guiding theme ‘Farming a sustainable bioeconomy’. It provided a high-level introduction to the topic, outlined its many aspects and thus paved the way for the various discussions at the GFFA.

High Level Panel - Munich Security Conference and BMEL
The High-Level Panels provided an in-depth insight into the topic of bioeconomy. Ministers of agriculture presented their perspectives on the global bioeconomy from various angles, such as sustainable production and use of biomass, promotion of innovation, and creation of fair framework conditions. One of the three High-Level Panels will once again be jointly organized by the Munich Security Conference (MSC) and the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL).

Science Slam
This year, four exciting and entertaining science slam lectures, each lasting ten minutes and in English, were once again presented live in Berlin under the new theme ‘Farming a sustainable bioeconomy’. These talks offered an entertaining insight into innovative scientific topics and invited the audience to join in the excitement. After the slam presentations, the international audience, both on site and online, voted on who will receive the GFFA Science Slam trophy in 2025. This years winner is Dorcas Sanginga Alame.

Berlin Agriculture Ministers' Conference
The world’s largest informal Conference of Agriculture Ministers took place on the last day of the conference. It constitutes the political highlight of the GFFA. During this conference, agriculture ministers from all around the world adopted a joint political communiqué. High-level representatives from more than ten international organisations, such as the CFS, FAO, IFAD, IICA, OECD, WTO and World Bank, attended the conference. Keynote Speaker
Éliane Ubalijoro, PhD is Chief Executive Officer of the Center for International Forestry Research and World Agroforestry (CIFOR-ICRAF) and Director General of ICRAF. An accomplished leader with a background in agriculture and molecular genetics, she serves on several boards and has been recognized for outstanding contributions in the areas of innovation, gender equity, and sustainable prosperity creation.
