Water is precious. As the basis of life for fauna, flora and thus for human nutrition, water is a key resource. Especially given the climate crisis, efficient water use is of utmost importance to secure food production, including in increasingly arid regions.
Against this backdrop, innovative agricultural technologies play a central role. Current innovations in the field include precision drip irrigation systems with minimised evaporation losses, drought- and salt-stress-resistant seeds and varieties, soil-conserving agricultural technology for optimal soil moisture and circular livestock farming systems.
But what challenges do countries in Eastern Europe and Central Asia face when it comes to sustainable water use in agriculture? What solutions might there be, and what do these look like in practice? What stands in their way? And how can the application of water-efficient agricultural technologies be further expanded?
A Representatives from the areas of international politics, science, and business will address these questions in a panel discussion as part of GFFA 2026.
